Well what kind of rod did he break? I mean you have quite a range of options out there, not just rod weight either, but how much $$$ do you want to spend? You can spend anywhere from $50 to $500 easy on a fly rod.
I’d ask him what weight rod and what brand so atleast you can get a comparable pole.
The caster they often repair rods usually have stiffer feel than slow action rods if your husband is that bring this up is the caster they also.

Since he has not done something already, he probably is deciding to put fly fishing on a back burner for a while, or he may be trying to decide on defining his fly fishing differently. These are generally personal choices that are impossible for someone else to make. The wrong fly rod is an expensive mistake.
